Baseline Audits of Current Environmental Cleaning Standards in your Care Home

The National Standards of Healthcare Cleanliness 2025 require all organisations providing health and care services to seek assurance their cleaning policies and processes are effective. CQC are continuing to inspect services against the Code of practice for the prevention and control of infections. This includes the requirement for clean, safe environments, with proportionate assurance processes in place, to demonstrate policies and processes are sufficient, and are followed.

We offer in the Manuals section of this sector a full Cleaning Assurance Manual for Social Care which describes and explains the National Standards in the context of your service. The document further supports the build or development of your own Environmental Cleaning Plans.

The cleaning audit service will be using the cleaning standards full technical audit per room. IPC staff will undertake the Audits for FR4 and above and usually that amounts to approx.20 on site cleaning audits ( photos included if requested for third party needs) . All cleaning standard reports will be sent to your Care Home for internal use and/or for CQC evidence.

The time needed for this audit depends on the size of the Care Home, but it is usually 20 audits up to a max of 25 and allow up to 4/5 hours.
