Cleaning Assurance Manual (Updated to the 2025 guidance for Primary Care)

The National Standards of Healthcare Cleanliness 2025 require all organisations providing health and care services to seek assurance their cleaning policies and processes are effective. CQC are continuing to inspect services against the Code of practice for the prevention and control of infections. This includes the requirement for clean, safe environments, with proportionate assurance processes in place, to demonstrate policies and processes are sufficient, and are followed.

This Manual describes and explains the National Standards in the context of your service. The document further supports the build or development of your own Environmental Cleaning Plans.

Essential reference for management of housekeeping /domestic cleaning, this manual is fully updated for the guidance issued in February 2025 and supports compliance with the Code of practice for the prevention & control of infections (2022).
