This course is aligned to the core skills training framework
Agenda
- Introduction
- The importance of Infection Prevention and Control (IPC)
- The chain of infection
- The principles of Standard Infection Prevention and Control Precautions (SIPCs)
- have knowledge of and demonstrate the standard infection prevention and control precautions relevant to their role which may include:
- Hand Hygiene
- Respiratory and Cough Hygiene
- Use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
- Safe Management of the Care Environment
- Safe Management of Care Equipment.
- Safe Management of Health and Care Linen
- Safe Management of Blood and Body Fluid Spillages
- Safe Disposal of Waste (including sharps)
- Occupational Safety/Managing Prevention of Exposure (including sharps)
- Awareness of the National Action Plan for Antimicrobial Resistance
- Recognise and act when their personal fitness to work may pose a risk of infection to others.
