Agenda

  • Introduction
  • The importance of Infection Prevention and Control (IPC)
  • The chain of infection
  • The principles of Standard Infection Prevention and Control Precautions (SIPCs)
  • have knowledge of and demonstrate the standard infection prevention and control precautions relevant to their role which may include:
  • Hand Hygiene
  • Respiratory and Cough Hygiene
  • Use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
  • Safe Management of the Care Environment
  • Safe Management of Care Equipment.
  • Safe Management of Health and Care Linen
  • Safe Management of Blood and Body Fluid Spillages
  • Safe Disposal of Waste (including sharps)
  • Occupational Safety/Managing Prevention of Exposure (including sharps)
  • Awareness of the National Action Plan for Antimicrobial Resistance
  • Recognise and act when their personal fitness to work may pose a risk of infection to others.
